Russian-Turkish Route Terrorism: Uncovering the Threats and Risks

2024-03-26 07:24:00

Two participants in the attack on Crocus City Hall in the Moscow region were traveling along the Russia-Turkey-Russia route, but there were no warnings regarding this from the Russian Federation, TASS reports citing the Turkish publication Hürriyet. These persons did not have registration in Turkey.

“Ankara has carefully studied all the issues related to these two people who came to Turkey and returned to Moscow. It is noted that two of the four arrested terrorists had previously traveled along the Russia-Turkey-Russia route; they arrived on the territory of the republic from Moscow. At the same time, they do not have any registration in Turkey – a residence permit or other documentary evidence of legalization in the republic,” TASS quotes message Turkish newspaper.

Hürriyet sources claim that there were no warnings from Russia regarding these migrants. “The facts of their presence in Turkey are being ‘studied with all care’, and they will continue to be reported to the Russian side,” the publication reports.

Turkey also expects Russia to provide data on the activities of the terrorist group IS (banned in the Russian Federation) and its offshoot IS-Khorasan. These groups are a threat not only to the Russian Federation, but also to Turkey.

It was previously reported that three persons suspected of assisting organizers of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, provided an apartment for living and a car to the people who carried out the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall. Alexander Bastrykin stated this.
