According to a senior Ukrainian official, Russian troops have started the mandatory evacuation of civilians from occupied areas around the city of Kherson, the New York Times reported.
According to the American daily, this could testify to a preparation of the Russian forces for a new withdrawal from Kherson in the face of the counter-offensive announced by Ukraine recently.
Although the information could not be independently verified, several pieces of evidence seem to confirm it.
Several Russian military bloggers also maintain that Kherson has been occupied by the Ukrainians for weeks, testifying to a decline in Russian control over the region.
