Russian taekwondo athletes allowed to compete in international competitions

The World Taekwondo Federation (WT) allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in individual competitions in a neutral status, reported on the website of the Taekwondo Union of Russia.

It is noted that Russian athletes will be able to compete in tournaments starting from the World Championships in Baku, which starts on May 29.

The Council also approved the establishment of a committee and a verification process to confirm that participating individual athletes and accompanying personnel comply with IOC recommendations.

Russian taekwondo athletes won the medal count at the Tokyo Olympics with two gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

The Tennis Federation put forward a condition for the Russians before the tournaments in Britain

The head coach of the Russian national team Vadim Ivanov said TASSwhich does not expect a negative reaction from other teams.

“We are with the president of our federation [Анатолием Тереховым] flew to Saudi Arabia for the Grand Prix final in December,” Ivanov said. – We did not feel any negative reaction from the coaches, members of the WTF board. That is, absolutely normal communication, the same as before all events.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Russians and Belarusians be admitted to international competitions in individual sports in a neutral status. An exception is made for those who actively supported the fighting in Ukraine or have contracts with the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies.
