Russian strike against a shopping center in Ukraine: “It’s a war crime”, says the G7

Boris Johnson on Monday condemned the Russian strike on a shopping center in Ukraine, which he said shows Vladimir Putin’s “cruelty and barbarism” and only “strengthens the determination” of the West to support kyiv.

“This appalling attack has shown once once more the depths of cruelty and barbarism into which the Russian leader is ready to sink,” the British prime minister said in a statement.

“Putin must understand that his behavior will only strengthen the resolve of the UK and all other G7 countries to support Ukraine for as long as it takes,” he added.

The strike came on a shopping center in Kremenchuk, central Ukraine, on the second day of a G7 great powers summit in the Bavarian Alps in southern Germany, largely dominated by the war that started by Russia.

US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken said the world was “horrified” by the Russian missile strike.

Describing the missile strike as “the latest in a series of atrocities,” the secretary of state tweeted that the United States would continue to support its Ukrainian partners and hold “Russia to account, including those responsible for atrocities”.

Moscow “will have to answer for these acts”, says France

France on Monday accused Russia of “appalling violations of humanitarian law in Ukraine” and said that Moscow should “answer for these acts”. “France condemns the Russian missile launch which hit a supermarket in Kremenchuk in Ukraine and which killed ten people and injured several dozen,” according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“By indiscriminately bombing civilians and civilian infrastructure throughout Ukraine, Russia is continuing its appalling violations of international humanitarian law,” he added.

“Russia will have to answer for its actions. France supports the fight once morest impunity in Ukraine”, continues the Quai d’Orsay.
