A video of a 97-year-old Russian soldier who invaded Ukraine and sexually assaulted a baby has been circulated, shocking.

According to British Mirror on the 9th (local time), a Russian military soldier was arrested by the police for uploading a video of raping a Ukrainian baby on his social media account.

Russian media reported that the soldier was born in 1997, Alexei Vichkov, from Krasnodar, southern Russia.

Bichkov, who was born in Krasnodar, southern Russia, is known to have shared various obscene photos and videos taken in Ukraine, in addition to videos of raping a baby.

Ukrainian diplomat Oleksander Sherva posted a picture of the Russian soldier who committed the crime on Twitter on the same day, saying, “It is the face of a monster who raped a baby.”

“Someone sent me a link to the heinous act he committed, but I mightn’t open it,” he added.

Evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian military in Ukraine has been reported one following another.

On the 30th of last month, the British daily The Times also published for the first time an interview with a survivor of sexual assault by a Russian soldier.

“Russian soldiers shot and killed her husband, and two soldiers raped her in front of her young son,” said Natalia, 33, a pseudonym, who lived in the Brovary region of the Ukrainian capital, Kiiu, in an interview.

In addition, on the 3rd (local time), British Guardian reported that widespread sexual assault was being detected in a region occupied by Russian forces in Ukraine.

According to reports, following Russian troops were recently driven out of northern Ukraine, women in the region reported sexual assault to local police, the media and human rights groups. At the time, there were testimonies that the Russian military threatened with guns, including gang rape, or sexually assaulted them in front of children.

Meanwhile, sexual assault in wartime has been treated as a type of war crime ever since the ‘Rome Statute on the International Criminal Court (ICC)’ was enacted in 1998. Ukrainian authorities and the ICC plan to launch an investigation into reported cases of sexual assault.
