Russian Senators Prepare Appeal to UN Over Interference in Presidential Elections

Senators have been instructed to prepare an appeal to the UN in connection with the interference of Western countries in the Russian presidential elections. This was stated by Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

“I want to instruct the International Affairs Committee, the commission, to prepare an appeal to parliaments, to international parliamentary organizations, to the UN; [представить] information regarding the gross interference of the West in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, in the electoral process, regarding the violation of all norms of international law,” the speaker of the Federation Council said at a plenary meeting. The statement was published on the government website.

She recalled that Vladimir Putin was voted for from above 87% of voters. “Our country has never known such popular support,” said the Speaker of the Upper House.
