Russian scientists are developing an effective way to stop migration from the countryside to cities

This was announced by Raif Vasylov, Vice President of the Kurchatov Center for Nature-Like Technologies and President of the Society of Biotechnologists of Russia, at the Novosibirsk High Technologies Forum.

He said: “We are talking about establishing space stations on other planets with the aim of settling them. So why don’t we start practicing this type of activity on our lands? “The establishment of such high-tech biosettlements, which rely on the use of modern bioeconomic technologies, will solve the problem of integration into the biosphere.”

Vassilov believes that the main goal of such settlements is to use local resources to provide people with everything they need. The scientist explained that the bio-environmental settlements will be a group of units, including energy, food, and bio-environmental industries. This will guarantee a high quality of life on the one hand and proximity to nature on the other.

As Vasilov explained, the problem of population migration is not only a problem of Trans-Urals, Siberia and the Far East. According to the scientist, fewer people live in the central Russian plain now than before 1913.

“This is due to the lack of development of infrastructure in rural and remote areas and the low standard of living there,” Vassilov said. He explained: “People do not want to stay there. Young people seek to move primarily to cities, where they have opportunities to develop and work.”
