The conductor who dropped the cat Twix off the train in Kirov has been temporarily suspended from work. This was reported on January 23 RIA Novosti with reference to Deputy General Director of JSC Russian Railways Ivan Kolesnikov.

“At the moment, the conductor is suspended from working with passengers,” said Ivan Kolesnikov.

The story of the cat Twix with a sad ending thundered throughout Russia last week. The man boarded the Ekaterinburg-St. Petersburg train, with Twix the cat in his carrier, and a special ticket was purchased for him. On the followingnoon of January 11, while stopping in Kirov, passengers approached the conductor. They noticed a cat walking around the carriage. The conductor interviewed the carriage passengers, but did not find out who the pet belonged to. The woman assumed that the cat got into the carriage by accident and decided to let him out into the street.

More than 300 people searched for Twix for several days. He was found a kilometer from the station. The cat’s owners confirmed the pet’s death. The day before, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered an investigation into the death of Twix.

Russian Railways said that following this story, the rules for transporting animals on long-distance trains will be revised. For example, guides will be prohibited from dropping off found animals.
