33-year-old A. Skochilenko is accused of spreading disinformation about the Russian army.
The artist and musician has been arrested since April last year.
After Moscow sent its troops into Ukraine in February 2022, Russia passed legislation banning criticism of the invasion and carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Mr. Skochilenko is on trial despite suffering from multiple medical conditions, including celiac disease and a congenital heart defect.
Her mother, Nadezhda Skochilenko, told the AFP news agency that a real prison sentence would be a disaster for her.
Mediazona reported that the meeting was attended by German diplomats and some cultural figures.
A. Skochilenko replaced the price tags of supermarkets with notes about people who hid from the Russian bombing in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
She was arrested after a shopper took offense to the labels and reported them.
Thousands of Russians were arrested, imprisoned or fined for opposing the conflict.
