Moscow. November 5. INTERFAX.RU – For a meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, the necessary conditions must be ripe, and a mutual desire is also needed, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“This should be with mutual desire, mutual readiness. Certain conditions must mature,” Peskov said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin for the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the Russia-1 TV channel (VGTRK).
The journalist published an excerpt on the telegram channel.
Peskov stressed that Putin “has repeatedly stated that he is ready for any contacts.”
“This collapse of the entire basis of bilateral Russian-American relations occurred on the initiative of the Americans. Therefore, at a minimum, the head of the United States will have to change his position at some time and take a more constructive position regarding bilateral relations. Then the conditions for such a meeting will mature “, he emphasized.
According to him, now relations between the United States and Russia are “at zero.”
“I would say even below zero. But all the same, since America and we bear a special responsibility for global and strategic stability, one way or another, over time we will have to resume this conversation,” the Kremlin representative said.
“Of course, we already talk to each other differently when it comes to interference in internal affairs. Whatever we showed attention to before, now we react to it absolutely irreconcilably,” he added.
According to Peskov, “this can be felt in the mood of the president (of the Russian Federation) and the commands he gives.”
