The Russian Central Election Commission announced that voter turnout in the Russian presidential elections reached 36.5% on Saturday morning.
The committee stated – in a statement today -: “The voter turnout rate in the Russian presidential elections across the country reached 36.5% as of 8:40 on the second day of voting.”
For her part, the head of the Central Election Commission in Russia, Ella Pamfilova, called on Russian citizens to allocate time to vote in the elections in person or remotely.
Pamfilova said in this regard: “Our men in the Military District of Ukraine are risking their lives to defend the freedom and independence of Russia, and citizens must provide the necessary time to vote in person or remotely because our choice is a strong and independent Russia.”
It is noteworthy that the presidential elections will be held in Russia over the course of 3 days (March 15 – 16 – 17) in light of severe tension in the Russian border areas with Ukraine, which witness armed attacks daily.
Four candidates are participating in these elections: current President Vladimir Putin (independent candidate) and three candidates from the parties represented in Parliament (Leonid Slutsky (Liberal Democratic Party), Vladislav Davankov (New People’s Party) and Nikolai Kharitonov (Russian Communist Party).
