Russian Presidential Election 2024: Putin Urges Citizens to Vote for the Future

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the country’s citizens on the eve of the start of three days of voting in the presidential election. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections for the future of Russia.

“Dear citizens of Russia, dear friends. Tomorrow, March 15, polling stations will open throughout our vast country, and a three-day voting period for the Russian presidential election will begin. They are being held in Russia for the eighth time, which shows the inviolability of one of the basic principles of a democratic state, the regularity of elections,” Putin said in his address, which was broadcast on Channel One.

Putin stressed that the election results will have a direct impact on the course of the country’s development in the coming years and called on citizens to be active and responsible. “Their results will directly affect the development of the country in the coming years. This is an important, extremely responsible event. Therefore, as the current head of state, I consider it necessary to address you today,” he added.

The presidential elections of the Russian Federation, scheduled by the Federation Council for March 17, 2024, will be held within three days. Among the candidates registered by the Central Election Commission for the post of head of state are Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and the current President Vladimir Putin. More than 41 thousand Russians already voted in the Russian presidential elections from abroad. They cast their votes from 23 countries.
