Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow prefers Joe Biden to be president of the United States for a second term, describing him as more experienced than his predecessor, Donald Trump.
During his conversation with a reporter from Russian state television, Putin said that he would work with any American president who is elected, but indicated that he would prefer a Biden victory when asked who would be a better choice from Russia’s point of view.
Putin said: Biden, the most experienced and most predictable, is an old-fashioned politician, but we will work with any American president whom the American people trust.
The Associated Press commented on the statements and said that they were the first by the Russian president regarding the upcoming US presidential elections, in which Biden and Trump are likely to compete, and they come in light of increasing tensions between Republicans and Democrats once morest the backdrop of Biden’s efforts to send more military aid to Kiev.
However, Trump’s recent statements in which he questioned US funding for Ukraine and said that he wanted to shake up NATO might serve Putin better. Biden on Tuesday accused Trump of acquiescing to a “Russian dictator.”
In response to questions regarding speculating regarding Biden’s health problems, Putin replied, saying: “I am not a doctor, and I do not consider commenting on this matter appropriate.”
The Biden team worked to allay Democrats’ concerns regarding the alarm bells raised by a private investigator regarding Biden’s age and memory, and this came in a report that acknowledged that Biden would not face charges of committing any criminal activity for possessing secret documents following he left office.
