In September 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Armenia had recognized Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over Karabakh. The Azerbaijani president, Ilham Aliev, assured that his country and Armenia might sign a peace treaty before 2024 if Yerevan does not change its position.
