Russian oligarch and his family found dead in their villa in Spain

Sergey Protosenya, former vice president of Russian gas giant Novatek, was found dead in the garden of his home in Spain. The bodies of his wife and daughter (18) were found in the villa.

It was the businessman’s teenage son who gave the alert, while he was staying in Bordeaux. Without news of his family, he contacted the Catalan police. On the spot, she first found the hanged body of the Russian oligarch, before discovering the bodies of his wife and daughter, stabbed to death.

The investigators are not ruling out any leads, even if the police suspect Serguey Protosenya of having killed himself after having shot his family. However, while the two women were killed in violent circumstances, no trace of blood was found on the body of the father of the family.

The police still have to analyze the surveillance camera images as well as the DNA traces and fingerprints on three potential murder weapons.
