MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. The 2018 Stanley Cup winner, Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, who plays for Washington, completed participation in the National Hockey League (NHL) player assistance program. This was reported by the NHL press service.

It is noted that the forward received permission to resume training with the team, but cannot yet take part in matches.

Kuznetsov turned to the NHL player assistance program on February 6, it helps in the treatment of alcohol or drug addiction, as well as in solving various psychological problems. This season, the 31-year-old hockey player played 43 matches, in which he scored 6 goals and made 11 assists.

Kuznetsov was selected 26th overall by Washington in the 2010 draft. He has been playing for the capital team since 2014. As a member of the Russian national team, the striker became the world champion twice (2012, 2014) and won bronze medals at the tournament twice (2016, 2017).

In 2019, Kuznetsov was suspended for four years for cocaine use; the suspension only applied to matches under the auspices of the International Hockey Federation and the Kontinental Hockey League. In January of this year, it was reported that Russian Colorado forward Valery Nichushkin was included in the NHL player assistance program.
