According to Ukrainian sources, a Russian missile hit a restaurant during an attack on Kramatorsk. Rescue workers found at least ten dead, including three children, under the rubble.

According to official sources, at least ten people were killed and at least 56 others injured in a Russian rocket attack on the city of Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine. The state emergency service announced on its social media channels that three children were among the dead.

“Rescue workers are searching the rubble of the destroyed building, looking for people likely to be under the rubble,” the emergency services added.

Tuesday’s attack destroyed the Ria Pizza restaurant in the city center, popular with journalists and military personnel. In addition to the restaurant, apartments, shops, cars and a post office as well as several other buildings were damaged, the prosecutor said on Telegram.

“The shelling happened in the evening, when people were just coming home from work,” said Attorney General Andriy Kostin. “The criminal Russian regime is continuing its terror tactics against peaceful Ukrainians,” Kostin continued. He said he was investigating.

Russia: Do not attack civilian targets

When asked about the shelling in Kramatorsk, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was only attacking military targets in Ukraine, not civilian ones. “Attacks are carried out only on objects that are in some way connected to military infrastructure,” he stressed.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening video address on Tuesday: “Such terror proves to us and to the whole world again and again that Russia deserves only one thing for all its deeds: defeat and a tribunal.”
