At least five people were killed and 31 wounded when Russian forces fired two missiles at the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, including an apartment complex, Ukrainian authorities said on Monday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia attacked “ordinary residential buildings” and posted videos online showing the top floor of a five-storey building destroyed.

Pokrovsk is located regarding 70 kilometers northwest of the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk, regarding 50 kilometers from the front line of the battlefield.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister Igor Klymenko said in a message on the messaging app Telegram that “five people were killed”.

He later said the number of injured had risen to 31, “including 19 police officers, five rescue workers and a child”.
