Russian media sanctioned –

Moscow (EFE).— Russia accused the United States of resorting to “aggression” against Russian media in that country after a new round of sanctions announced the day before by Washington.

“Yesterday (the day before yesterday) Russian journalists were subjected to aggression by the United States,” denounced the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, María Zajárova, quoted by the Interfax agency.

According to him, this is an “extraordinary” situation that should not go unnoticed.

“During the last two weeks, these attacks were literally on the verge of real, informational and physical aggression,” said the official, who rejected Washington’s accusations as “unfounded” and politically motivated.

The United States announced the day before yesterday the imposition of a new round of sanctions on the Russian state media, which it accuses of leading a fundraising campaign to purchase weapons for Russian troops in Ukraine and for trying to influence the upcoming Moldovan presidential elections.

Last week, the State Department had already imposed financial sanctions against the RT network for allegedly wanting to interfere in the US elections on November 5, and yesterday it was accused of carrying out alleged hidden operations to destabilize democracy around the world.
