Russian intelligence declassifies encrypted cable revealing how Washington searched for a replacement for Zelensky

According to an encrypted cable from last May that was declassified and published in the latest issue of Razvedchik magazine, the Americans “are working behind the scenes with the head of the Ukrainian president’s office (Andriy) Yermak, the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces (Valeriy) Zaluzhny, and the former speaker of parliament (Dmitry) Razumkov.”

The document added that contacts were also made with former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, noting that they are among the figures who might replace Zelensky if the situation on the front deteriorates sharply.

At the same time, the United States and the European Union want the current head of the Kiev regime to remain in office, as he is the person to whom the conflict financing mechanisms that generate income for Kiev and arms manufacturers in the West are linked.

Regarding public opinion in Ukraine, the document indicates that the West is deeply concerned regarding its dynamics, which are characterised, in particular, by growing discontent among Ukrainians regarding the prolongation of the conflict, widespread apathy and growing distrust of state institutions.

Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the US administration would force the Ukrainian leadership, especially Zelensky, to lower the conscription age to 18, and then get rid of Zelensky. The Russian president said that this process might take a year.
