Austria is still “penetrated by Russian influence on all levels”. It is a harsh conclusion that an expert who has dealt with the subject professionally for years and wants to remain anonymous draws to the STANDARD. Whether in the government environment, in business or in the security authorities: Contact with Russia was not only allowed, but actively sought. That’s no secret, the whole of Europe knows it – and this is shown, for example, by the fact that Raiffeisenbank International (RBI) is one of two foreign banks that are systemically important for the Russian central bank. Now the RBI is threatened with US sanctions.
