The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region said on Monday that what he described as a “sabotage group” of the Ukrainian army had entered Russian territory in the Grivoron region bordering Ukraine.

Vyacheslav Gladkov said, in a statement on Telegram, that the Russian army and security forces are taking measures to repel the incursion.

The Russian Information Agency also quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that President Vladimir Putin had been informed of the attacks by the “Ukrainian saboteurs group,” adding that Russian forces were working to expel and eliminate them.

The Ukrainian presidency denied its connection to the incursion of fighters into a Russian region, according to what was reported by the French Press Agency.

The Ukrainian “Hromadsky” website stated that the Ukrainian military intelligence service blamed the armed operation in the Belgorod region on Russian citizens belonging to two paramilitary groups.

The website quoted military intelligence spokesman Andrei Yusov as saying that the Russian Freedom Corps and the Russian Volunteer Corps were responsible for the operation.

The site did not indicate whether it provided any evidence to prove this.

Earlier, the “Baza” channel, which is linked to the Russian security services, published on Telegram footage showing what appeared to be a Ukrainian tank attacking a Russian border point.
