Bicycles, car seats and pacifiers are included in the list of children’s goods that are subject to a reduced VAT rate. This decision was made by the Russian government.
“Bicycles, car seats and boosters, children’s chairs and high chairs, bottles, pacifiers, bathtubs, bathing slides and other child care products have been added to the list,” reports press service government. It is noted that these goods will be subject to a 10% VAT rate.
The Cabinet of Ministers also adopted a resolution aimed at improving the quality and availability of goods for children. It also states the goal of increasing the share of domestic products in the Russian market.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that lowering VAT on children’s goods would reduce the tax burden on enterprises and also stimulate demand. Before the government decision of December 12, the list of goods with reduced VAT included sewing products, hats, shoes, strollers, children’s beds, toys and diapers.
