Russian Foreign Ministry on “Putin’s arrest”: There is no sense in the decisions of the International Criminal Court

The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the decision of the International Criminal Court regarding the issuance of a decision to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying: “The decisions of the International Criminal Court have no meaning for us, including from a legal point of view.”

And she added in a statement today, Friday: “Moscow is not a member of the Rome Statute that established the International Criminal Court, and we have no obligations towards the court.”

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of war crimes in Ukraine.

It is reported that on the twenty-fourth of February last year 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, launching Military operations inside Ukrainian territorywhere the campaign began following a long military build-up, and the Russian recognition of the unilaterally declared Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic, followed by the entry of the Russian armed forces into the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine.

Today, Friday, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian Senator Maria Lvova Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Russia, on charges of committing war crimes in Ukraine.

In October 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Senator Maria Lvova Belova as the Russian President’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights for a period of 5 years.

It is noteworthy that Maria Lvova Belova, 37, is a member of the Russian Federation Council for her hometown of Penza, and a member of the ruling United Russia party.
