Russian Figure Skating Spartakiad: Champions and Results

2024-02-17 01:26:00

On February 16, the Spartakiad started – the second tournament of the season with the participation of the strongest Russian figure skaters. So far there are no sensations on the ice of the Metallurg Arena. In three out of three types, the current champions of Russia are in the lead.

In ice dancing they took a confident first place Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukinbreaking the 90 point mark.

“Look how we worked following the Russian Championship. It was 86 points, now it’s 90. I want to work harder and harder, so that grades are given for current work, and not for past achievements,” Bukin said following the speech.

We expect to be in the lead in men’s single skating Yevgeny Semenenko, who scored a powerful 104.84 points. But the two-time Russian champion refused an interview – a student of Alexei Mishin promised to tell everything following the free program, but today he preferred to save his energy.

But the champion of Russia and Europe Mark Kondratyuk did not shy away from the question regarding the bronze medal at the 2022 Olympics, which went to our skaters following subtracting the result of Kamila Valieva. Kondratyuk was part of that same team.

“Nobody considered the option that there would be bronze. As if there were three outcomes: first place, fourth and nothing.

When they showed me the ISU document during training, at first I didn’t believe it and didn’t understand how this might be. This surprised me. Should I go for bronze or not? I can not say anything. While I’m waiting for the final result, following that I’ll think regarding something,” Mark said.

For the world junior champion Andrey Mozalev this tournament was special. He took to the ice for the first time as part of Eteri Tutberidze’s team, and following the performance he commented on this debut.

“It’s unusual to go on the ice with a new team. Completely different sensations. And that’s great. I would like to see Eteri Georgievna here – she decided not to come, but she still supports me, mentally it’s as if she’s here.

I’m not happy with the Salchow at the box office, it didn’t work out,” Andrey said.

The current champions of Russia are also leading in pairs. Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov received less for the short program than at the Russian Championships (83.01 in Chelyabinsk, 81.46 in Magnitogorsk). However, this did not spoil the holiday that the duo is celebrating today.

«Today is seven years since Nastya and I have been skating. Anniversary. Thanks to everyone who worked with us all this time, who supported us,” Gallyamov began.

“Everything is fine. Fine. We don’t pay attention to points. We are satisfied with our performance,” the skater answered the question regarding his ratings.

«We are happy with our skating. We had no visible errors. We’ll look at printouts and replays in more detail,” Mishina said.
