The import volume of Russian diesel has not exceeded the 10% threshold since 2020, government spokesman Mustapha Baitas said on Thursday, attributing this to “freedom of imports”.
Responding to journalists’ questions during a press briefing following the Government Council, Baitas indicated that the import of Russian diesel remained below 10% during this government term and the previous one, adding that ” the import volume stabilized at 9% in 2020 and 5% in 2021 to peak once more at 9% in 2022”.
Since the beginning of the year, the average price of diesel, whatever its origin, “has remained more or less the same because it obeys the law of supply and demand”, a- he explained.
In the same context, the Minister Delegate indicated that Morocco has not skimped on efforts regarding the import of Russian coal, which has allowed the control of the cost of electricity production in the Kingdom.
