That would probably cause a lot of trouble. After a bar tour, Russian Colonel Alexander Kuzivanow (70) lost his laptop with highly classified documents.
As the “Bild” reports, citing Russian journalists, Kutsivanov celebrated his 70th birthday together with another Russian officer in the Moscow bar “Beavers and Ducks”. The colonel is said to have really stepped on the gas. The military is said to have been so drunk following the drinking spree that he got really sick in front of the bar on Red Square.
Kutsivanov heads military department
Passers-by then called an ambulance. This brought Kutsivanov home. When he woke up reasonably sober following a while, he realized that his laptop had been lost.
Secret military documents may also have been found on the computer. Because the colonel works as head of a department at the Central Research Institute in Moscow. This institute is responsible for the development of science and technology in Russian defense and security. Kutsivanov’s department studies the oceans and analyzes military applications of shipbuilding.
Downplayed incident to police
Rob Lee, an American expert on Russian defense policy, tweeted that the laptop contained notes and secret plans. Articles on military topics were also saved.
Kutsivanov himself told the police that the articles were intended for the Great Russian Encyclopedia. This is a Russian alternative to Wikipedia. According to his own statements, the colonel keeps writing articles for the encyclopedia. (zis)
