As the court announced on Thursday, the LAT panel satisfied the cassation appeal of the prosecutor of the General Prosecutor’s Office and upheld the indictment of R. Nasyrov announced by the court of first instance in March 2022.
According to the data of the case, in 2019, a shareholder of a Russian bank, R. Nasyrov, sought to obtain multiple Schengen visas for himself and his son for a bribe.
Vilnius Last year, the district court found R. Nasyrov guilty of influence peddling and awarded him a final fine of 13.7 thousand. euro fine.
At that time, last June, the Vilnius District Court acquitted R. Nasyrov as not having committed an act that had the characteristics of a crime or misdemeanor. This court also acquitted Rimantas Šidlauskas, the former Lithuanian ambassador to Russia who had already died, accused of influence peddling and illegal issuance of visas to two Russian citizens.
The pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by the officers of the Special Investigation Service.
LAT, having examined the criminal case in the cassation procedure, found that the court of first instance reasonably recognized the data collected during the pre-trial investigation as evidence and was guided by them.
In a final and non-appealable ruling, the Russian citizen remains convicted of influence peddling and will have to pay the fine imposed by the first instance court.
