[モスクワ 3日 ロイター] – Ella Pamfilova, head of Russia’s Central Election Commission, said Thursday that local elections scheduled for September will be canceled if the situation worsens in four regions of Ukraine unilaterally “annexed” by Russia. said it was possible.

“In the face of unforeseen circumstances, the situation might deteriorate dramatically in some regions, and the lives and health of the population would be in serious danger,” Panfilova said at a meeting with Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow. “If judged, (the election commission) has the right to postpone the election,” it said.

Mr Putin replied, “I understand.”

Last year, Russia unilaterally “annexed” parts of four Ukrainian provinces: Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson. According to Panfilova, Russia will hold local and municipal elections on September 10, including elections for 21 regional mayors and 20 regional councils.
