In Warsaw, Russian Ambassador Sergei Andreev was not allowed to lay flowers at the memorial to Soviet soldiers. The path of the diplomat was blocked by an aggressive crowd, reports RIA Novosti on Tuesday, May 9th.

The audience demanded that the representative of the Russian Federation removed the St. George ribbon from his jacket. The police, who were on duty at the memorial cemetery, advised the Russian delegation to come with a wreath on another day.

“No matter what provocations our ill-wishers arrange, this will always be our holiday, this is our victory, and victory will always be ours,” Sergei Andreev commented on the incident.
