One person was killed and 19 injured, including four children, in Odesa, Ukraine’s black sea port city, which was hit by Russian airstrikes early on the morning of the 23rd, Archyde.com reported.
Odessa Governor Oleh Kiper said on Telegram: “Odessa, another night of demon attacks. Unfortunately, a civilian was killed”. Kiber said Russian missiles destroyed six houses and apartments.
Grain export facilities in Odessa have been bombed almost daily for the past week since Russia withdrew from the Black Sea grain deal. Odessa’s military department said the Spaso-Preobrazhenskyi Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church linked to Moscow was badly damaged. The church was consecrated in 1809.
An icon of the Virgin, the patron saint of Odessa, was recovered from the rubble, the military department said. Photos and videos released by officials and police showed parts of the church building damaged, with icons scattered among the rubble inside.
