According to Ukrainian sources, the Ukrainian capital Kiev was the target of a heavy Russian air attack this morning.
“The enemy launched a complex attack from several directions and at the same time, using drones, cruise missiles and probably ballistic missiles,” the Kyiv military administration said via Telegram.
“It was exceptional in density, a peak number of missiles in a very short period of time. According to initial information, the vast majority of enemy targets in the skies over Kiev have been detected and destroyed,” the statement said.
Injured by debris
The mayor of Kiev, Vitaly Klitschko, announced shortly before on his Telegram account that the city’s air defenses were deployed. Debris from a drone and a rocket fell in the Darnytskyi district in the south of the capital. “Three people were injured in Solomjanskyi district,” Klitschko added.
The heavy Russian attacks came a day following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy returned from a tour that had taken him to Italy, Germany, France and Britain.
London delivers more anti-aircraft missiles
The British government promised Ukraine the timely delivery of hundreds of anti-aircraft missiles and combat drones. Britain announced last week that it would supply Ukraine with Storm Shadow cruise missiles. In response to London’s new arms pledge to Ukraine, Moscow warned of “further destruction.”
