Russia: Woman Arrested for Treason – She was raising money for Ukraine – 2024-02-23 02:24:18

Russian authorities arrested a woman of Russian and American citizenship on charges of “treason”.

Its federal security agency of Russia (FSB) announced that it arrested the woman for treason in the city of Yekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains: “The Federal Security Service put an end to the illegal activities of a 33-year-old Los Angeles resident in Yekaterinburg who has Russian and American citizenship.”

The young woman, who has not been named, was arrested as part of a “treason” investigation for collecting since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraineon February 24, 2022, “funds in favor of a Ukrainian organization, which then used them to purchase medical supplies, equipment, weapons and ammunition for the armed forces of Ukraine.”

According to the newsit, a video broadcast by the Ria Novosti agency shows a balaclava-covered FSB agent handcuffing a young woman wearing a white jacket and a white cap pulled down to her eyes.

Other American citizens are also being held in Russia, including journalist Evan Gershkovich who was arrested about a year ago on espionage charges also in Yekaterinburg. He, his family and the Wall Street Journal, the newspaper he works for, reject the accusations.
