The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Moscow welcomes the restoration of relations between Bahrain and Qatar, which will contribute to improving the situation in the Gulf region and providing an atmosphere of trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Yesterday, Qatar and Bahrain agreed in Riyadh to resume diplomatic relations that were severed between the two countries in 2017.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said, “Moscow welcomes the restoration of relations between Bahrain and Qatar, and we are convinced that this will contribute to the overall improvement of the situation in the Gulf region, and the formation of an atmosphere of trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.”
She indicated that the consolidation of positive trends in the development of the situation in this strategically important region of the world will also stimulate further rapprochement between Riyadh and Tehran.
She added, “We hope that the action plan to normalize relations between countries, including the appointment of ambassadors, which was agreed upon by the two parties during the Iranian and Saudi foreign affairs meeting, in Beijing on April 6, will be fully implemented as scheduled.”
