The International Skating Union (ISU) has decided to ban Russia and Belarus from hosting the Grand Prix in figure skating in the 2023/24 season. About it reported on the ISU website.

The decision was made by the ISU Council, which met on January 16. This season, the Grand Prix stage in Russia is also not held.

Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation Alexander Kogan expressed regretthat the ISU has decided not to hold the Grand Prix stages in Russia. “It’s a pity. Because Russia perfectly knows how to hold competitions. And many would be interested and useful to see how it goes. Or maybe learn, ”Kogan said. TASS.

March 1, ISU removed Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions due to hostilities in Ukraine. Under the auspices of the ISU, there are competitions in figure skating, short track and speed skating. The organization then stated that, if necessary, they would take additional steps against Russia and Belarus.

In April 2022, the ISU canceled the Russian stage of the 2022/23 Grand Prix Figure Skating Series, which was scheduled for November 25-27, 2022.

The Russian stages of the Grand Prix in different years were held in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Sochi.
