Russia: Volgograd train derailment caused by Ukrainian drone attack VIDEO – 2024-07-28 12:20:00

Kiev has so far not commented on Russian media claims about a Ukrainian drone strike that allegedly caused a commercial train derailment, an oil tank fire and damage to a railway line in Russia’s Volgograd region.

The Russian Railways agency said only that the derailment was caused by the intervention of unauthorized persons, but Russian media reported that the train was attacked by a drone.

Images released by Baza, a channel on the Telegram platform linked to Russian security services, show freight train cars lying along tracks.

“As a result of the intervention of unauthorized persons in the railway transport operation, wagons of a commercial train derailed at the Kotluban station”, announced the Russian Railways, according to APE-MPE.

“According to preliminary information, there are no injuries. At this time, train traffic in the area of ​​Cotluban station has been suspended.”

With information from iefimerida, the oil tank and wagons with timber caught fire, which was extinguished, as reported by the Russian state news agency RIA, citing the Ministry of Emergencies.

TASS, another Russian state news agency, cited emergency services as saying 300 meters of tracks were damaged in the attack.

So far there are no statements from Ukrainian officials regarding the episode.
