Russia says it has repelled a suspected Ukrainian missile attack and several drone attacks on Russian regions. The Russian Air Force fired two missiles over the Sea of Azov that were heading towards Russian territory, the Defense Ministry said on Sunday. It had previously reported drone attacks on three regions on the border with Ukraine, Belarus and in the center of the country, as well as on the capital region.

According to its own information, the Russian military intercepted 20 Ukrainian drones over its own territory during the night. The regions of Bryansk, Kaluga, Tula and the Moscow area are affected, the Defense Ministry said on its Telegram channel.

In the Tula region, where three drones were reportedly intercepted, debris from a downed drone hit a multi-story residential building, damaging the facade. The region’s governor, Alexei Dyumin, said a resident of the house was slightly injured by the broken glass. According to official information, five drones were shot down in the Moscow region. According to Governor Andrei Vorobyov, three buildings were damaged. But there were no injuries.

Because of the drone attack, the two airports south of Moscow, Domodedovo and Vnukovo, were temporarily closed, more than a dozen flights took off late and three flights were canceled.

Russia has been waging a war of aggression once morest Ukraine for more than 21 months. They are defending themselves once morest this with Western military aid. The Ukrainian military did not comment on the drone attacks in Russia, but reported the shooting down of eight Russian combat drones over its own territory. Just the day before, Russia had carried out what was probably the largest nighttime drone attack on the Ukrainian capital Kiev since the start of the war.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military warned of the danger of a new capture of the industrial city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region in view of the ongoing Russian offensive in the east of the country. “The Russian occupiers have not given up their intention to attack the city of Kupyansk, they want to occupy it once more,” Ukrainian army spokesman Volodymyr Fityo said on television on Sunday. In recent weeks, Russian troops in northeastern Ukraine have regained the initiative and gained ground.

According to Fitjo, the fighting is now taking place around the town of Synkivka, a few kilometers northeast of Kupyansk. The Ukrainian military repelled four Russian attacks in the area. Last fall, Ukraine was able to liberate large parts of the Kharkiv region, such as the important Kupyansk railway junction on the Oskil River, as part of its counteroffensive. The Ukrainians crossed the river and drove the Russian occupiers back into the neighboring Luhansk region. Now the battle line is mostly back in the Kharkiv region.

Further south, in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk, the Ukrainian military is also on the defensive. The situation around the city of Avdiivka is particularly difficult. According to Russian military bloggers, Moscow’s armed forces have succeeded in gaining further ground in the city’s industrial area. Kiev has not yet commented on these reports.
