A pro-Russian official in Zaporizhia announced that Russian forces had repulsed a new attempt by Ukrainian forces to attack in the province, noting that Russian forces had repulsed six previous offensive attempts in the southern province.

The head of the “We are with Russia” movement in Zaporizhia, Vladimir Rogov, said on his Telegram account that Russian forces repelled a new attempt by Ukrainian forces to attack in Zaporizhia province.

Rogov said, “Ukrainian army fighters have started a new night attack. Our soldiers receive them with Russian hospitality, which is known for its enthusiasm and intense gunfire.”

According to Rogov, the Ukrainian forces paved the way for their attack with heavy bombardment using heavy weapons, according to Sputnik, quoting the official.

Rogov revealed how the Ukrainian forces carried out the attack, indicating that they first made technical preparations, and then began transferring armored vehicles and live forces to the front line to launch a new attack.

“Everything indicates that the main action today will be in the Rabotino district of the Orekhov region of the Zaporizhia province,” Rogov emphasized.

Later, Rogov told Sputnik that the Ukrainian forces are preparing for new attack attempts in the region. The Ukrainian forces made six attempts in the recent period to break through the front line in this area: four attacks failed in the Vymivsk region, and two failed in the south of the city of Orekhov.

And Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Ukraine had launched a major attack on the Russian army, but it had failed to achieve its goals, despite the intensification of fighting for at least 3 days.

“We can say that the offensive has definitely begun. Proof of this is the use of the Ukrainian army’s strategic reserve… Ukrainian forces have not achieved their goals in any sector,” Putin said, speaking to Russian reporters in Sochi.

Putin explained that the fighting has intensified greatly in the past three days, but “the enemy has not achieved any success” in any of the battles.

Moscow vows to thwart the Ukrainian counterattack

Shoigu confirms the start of the counterattack

On June 6, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Ukrainian regime was launching the attack, which it had long promised, on the various sectors of the front during the past three days, in light of the Kiev authorities’ keenness not to disclose any information related to the attack.

Shoigu revealed, “Dozens of Russian soldiers were killed, while responding to a Ukrainian attack, where 71 soldiers were killed and 210 wounded.”

According to the Minister of Defense, starting from June 4, the Ukrainian armed forces tried to advance on five axes with the help of two brigades, but they did not succeed, and they lost 300 soldiers.
