Russia is prepared both militarily and technologically for a possible nuclear conflict, although it is unlikely that things will come to that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Dmitry Kiselev, general director of the media group Rossiya Segodnya, of which Sputnik is part of it. “From a military and technical point of view we are ready, of course,” said Putin.
The president also emphasized that if the issue threatens the existence of the Russian State, nuclear weapons are ready to be used. “We have our own principles.
What they [os princípios] What they say is that we are prepared to use weapons, including any weapons and those you mentioned, if it is a question of the existence of the Russian state or of damage to our sovereignty and independence. Everything is written in our Strategy, we don’t change it.”
Putin also stated that the United States is developing nuclear weapons, but that does not mean that it is ready to start a nuclear war tomorrow.
According to the Russian president, Joe Biden represents the “traditional political school” and the US has many other experts on Russia-US relations and strategic deterrence.
“But that doesn’t mean that, in my opinion, they are prepared to unleash that nuclear war tomorrow. Well, they want it, what can we do? We are ready,” Putin said.
