The report points out that what had been thought of as a “total invasion” of Ukrainian territory six months ago had “failed”. “As of April, the Russian authorities realized that this plan had failed and fell back on more modest objectives in eastern and southern Ukraine,” said the British Ministry of Defence.
The British believe that the ongoing offensive in the Donbass is experiencing only “minimal progress”. “Russia is facing a shortage of ammunition, vehicles and personnel,” the ministry said. The morale of the troops would also be at its lowest while the army is “significantly degraded”.
“Russia’s diplomatic power has been diminished and the economic outlook is bleak. After six months, the Russian war has proven costly and strategically harmful (for Russia),” the report concludes.
