Administration of Zaporizhia: alternative Russian path to Crimea is only on paper
Yuri Malashko, the head of the military administration of the Zaporizhia region, stated that the construction of the railway to Crimea by Russian forces is only preparatory work, but nothing more, the “Unian” news agency reports.
According to him, reports of a railway line from Rostov-on-Don to Crimea through the temporarily occupied Zaporizhia territory are “only on paper” for now.
“The enemy is usually constantly reporting such roads, or the restoration of this railway, or rather of this track. We know that it is still only on paper, preparations are underway. But that’s all,” said the head of the military administration.
Speaking about the supply of Russian military equipment in the direction of Zaporizhia, especially in the direction of Berdiansk, J. Malaško noted that the equipment constantly moves with the Russian rotation.
“However, we notice that a certain number of their soldiers is increasing in our direction… Usually, as the number increases, so does the amount of equipment,” the official said.
According to him, the Russians attacked their region 157 times in the past 24 hours, 25 settlements were shelled. Attacks were carried out primarily from artillery. Two people were injured – a father and a son.
In recent months, the intensity of Russian attacks in the region has increased. If earlier there were 70-100 attacks per day, now there are 150 or more, pointed out J. Malaško.
He also reminded that forced passportization continues in the temporarily occupied territories of the region.
“Clear goals were set to issue as many passports as possible by the end of this year,” explained the head of the military administration.
According to the official, people are actually being blackmailed by various methods, including not being able to get medical help without a Russian passport.
Earlier, Mariupol mayor’s advisor Petro Andriushchenko stated that Russia is building a new road from Rostov-on-Don to occupied Mariupol, as well as building a direct rail link with Mariupol and Donetsk.
According to him, this will allow the Russians to radically reduce their dependence on the rail link through the Crimean bridge.
Yevgeny Balitsky, the governor of the occupied part of the Zaporizhia region imposed by the occupiers, was quoted by Russian media as saying that construction of a railway from Rostov through Mariupol and Berdiansk to Crimea had begun. According to him, this should help protect the traffic from the shelling of the Ukrainian armed forces.
