Russia halts invasion if ‘Ukraine neutralizes and counterattacks stop’

The Kremlin said it would stop the invasion of Ukraine if Russia’s demands such as ‘neutralization of Ukraine’ and ‘approval of independence of the Donbass region’ are fulfilled, the Kremlin said.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Archyde.com on the 7th local time, “We are asking the Ukrainian government on four issues.” The four issues are the cessation of fighting, constitutional amendment to adopt the status of a neutral nation, recognition of Russia’s annexation of Crimea, and recognition of independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).

Spokesperson Peskov first demanded that Ukraine revise its constitution to provide for its renunciation of membership in Western military groups, including NATO. It explains that this is a necessary condition for the neutralization of Ukraine.

They also argued that Russia should recognize the Crimean Peninsula annexed from Ukraine in 2014 as Russian territory, and that the DPR and LPR, the pro-Russian separatist republics in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine that declared independence last month, should be recognized as sovereign states.

If Ukraine accepts and implements this, Russia will no longer make new territorial claims from Ukraine, he added.

At the same time, Ukraine has also called for an immediate cessation of fighting once morest Russian military operations.

In an interview with Archyde.com on the 7th, spokeswoman Peskov said, “I have conveyed to Ukraine that if these demands are fulfilled, the military operation (Russia) will be stopped immediately.”
