RUSSIA (Archyde.com) – A Russian court on Friday ordered Snap Inc., owner of WhatsApp and photo editing and sharing app Snapchat, to pay a fine, according to a Russian court.

The reason for this is the refusal to store data on Russian users in the country. multiple news agencies reported.

The fine once morest WhatsApp is 18 million rubles ($301,255). Snap was fined 1 million rubles. WhatsApp was also fined last August for the same reason.

Meta and Snap might not be reached for comment.

A Moscow court in March declared Meta an “extremist organization” but allowed it to use WhatsApp.
