Russia does not discuss Ukraine “peace plan” with China

Russia said its foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, did not discuss China’s “peace plan” on the Ukraine conflict at his meeting with Wang Yi. According to Russia, the two are only talking regarding a peaceful solution approach.

“The Chinese partners explained their thoughts on the root causes of the Ukraine crisis, as well as their approach to a political solution,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Russia Today (RT). Russian delivery Maria Zakharova said on February 22, local time.

Zakharova said the Russian and Chinese diplomats did not talk regarding any specific “plans”.

“We will consider China’s position on a political solution to the Ukraine crisis,” a Russian foreign ministry spokesman said.

Wang Yi, head of the Office of the Central Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China, first mentioned the country’s “peace proposal” during his visit to Europe last week.

Earlier this week, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin also mentioned this issue. “The international community is fully aware of who is calling for dialogue and striving for peace, who is fanning the flames and sparking confrontation,” he said, calling on the US to “seriously think regarding the role of his role” in the Ukraine conflict to date.

On February 22, Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Zhang Jun said that Beijing would publish a “position report” with China’s consistent position on the conflict “in the next few days”.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country has its own “peace formula” that has been supported by many countries. This is the “10-point peace plan” presented by Mr. Zelensky at the G20 summit in November 2022.
