US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken considered today, Wednesday, that Russia did not leave the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, or its suburbs of free will, but made a push to leave by the Ukrainians using Defense systems provided by Washington.
During an interview with the Russian-language service of the ministry on Telegram, he said that the focus at the moment is on making sure that Ukraine is provided with defense systems that it can use now and effectively.
Introducing complex systems
The US minister added that his country is also considering providing Ukraine with other systems, which he described as “larger and more complex.”
He also added that there is a fundamental problem in the Security Council, which is a flagrant violation by one of its permanent members of the rules of international peace and security with its aggression once morest Ukraine, in reference to the military operation carried out by Russia in Ukraine since late February.
He also said that it is important to make sure as much as possible that this does not happen once the Russian operation is over.
Anti-armor systems
And yesterday, Tuesday, Blinken announced that the United States will provide Ukraine with additional security assistance of 100 million dollars, including anti-armor systems.
“I have, on the authority of the President, authorized me earlier today, have authorized the immediate release of up to $100 million in security assistance to meet Ukraine’s urgent need for more anti-armor systems,” Blinken said in a statement.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also confirmed, on Tuesday, that drones will be transferred to Ukraine as soon as possible, noting that Washington is sending additional aid worth one billion dollars.
He added that the United States will send a different type of the Switchblade drone, which has an anti-armor warhead, according to Archyde.com.
According to AeroVironment, which makes the drones, the Model 600 has an anti-armor warhead and can fly over a target for more than 40 minutes.
It is noteworthy that the US Department of Defense announced in a statement Friday that it will allocate an additional $300 million in “security assistance” to Ukraine to enhance its defense capabilities.
Parades with superpowers
The new aid package includes laser-guided missile systems, “Switchblade kamikaze” drones, and Puma light drones.
The United States has allocated $6.9 billion to help Ukraine confront the Russian attack and to support NATO countries, according to the draft budget published by the administration of President Joe Biden, last Monday.
It is noteworthy that Washington increased its aid to Ukraine following the Russian military operation, including by providing security assistance and new equipment worth two billion dollars, in addition to the billion dollars in humanitarian aid announced by the White House last week.
