Russia develops new electronic warfare vehicles

“Our company is developing Vityaz light military vehicles that will be equipped with Volnorez electronic warfare systems. These vehicles will be intended for reconnaissance groups of the Russian army and army troops participating in the special military operation,” said the company’s general director, Konstantin Bagdasarov.

Bagdasarov noted that the new vehicles will be built on the UAZ-469 platform, and instead of gasoline engines they will get diesel engines with a power of about 100 hp, since combat vehicles with gasoline engines have complex electronic control systems, and under conditions of constant use and exposure to dirt while working on the battlefield they are subject to breakdowns, while the new Vityaz vehicles will be practical and any technician can easily maintain and repair their engine.

In addition to electronic warfare systems, Vityaz vehicles can be equipped with anti-aircraft systems, equipped with heavy KPVT machine guns. Testing of these vehicles is expected to begin in the near future to confirm their declared technical characteristics and verify the operation of the electronic warfare systems they have acquired.

The “Volnorez” system that these vehicles received is a small electronic warfare system, 484 mm long, weighing 13 kg, and capable of jamming drone control signals within a radius of 600 m, and can be installed on any armored military vehicle.
