Russia develops new drones for agricultural work

“Our institute’s experts have developed two models of drones used in agricultural work, within the framework of the ‘Priorities for 2030’ project,” the institute’s website said in a statement.

The statement indicated that the first model, called Agroscout, can work with the AssistAgro system, which uses artificial intelligence to process photographic data. These drones have special sensors to avoid collisions during flight, and they can operate independently and follow a specific path in the event of losing contact with the operator.

Agroscout drones are designed to fly over agricultural areas and take pictures of them. After completing their mission, they send the data to the AssistAgro system, which analyzes the images and assesses the condition of the crops and the amount of weeds present in the land.

Agrodron drones are designed to spray pesticides, fungicides and herbicides on agricultural lands. They can also be used to spray agricultural fields with organic fertilizers, growth hormones and other liquid materials necessary for agricultural operations.

On the subject, the head of the Institute’s drone development department, Yuri Bokhariev, said: “Using drones in small-area farming operations is convenient and practical. These drones weigh less than 100 kg and can carry loads weighing up to 30 kg.”
