The Kremlin today rejected a Reuters cable that Russian President Vladimir Putin had offered the United States a ceasefire in Ukraine through mediators.
Asked if the Reuters report is true that the Russia put forward proposals for peace, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov he stated, “No, it’s not true.”
According to the protothema, the Russian president sent messages to Washington in 2023 publicly and privately through intermediaries, such as through Moscow’s Arab partners in the Middle East, that he was ready to consider a ceasefire in Ukraineas Russian sources told Reuters.
The mediators met in Turkey in late 2023, according to three Russian sources, and White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan called his foreign policy adviser PutinGuri Usakov, in January.
