According to Ela Pamfilova, president of Russia’s Electoral Commission, a cyber attack took place at polling stations in the Tyumen region of Siberia, targeting security systems and cameras. The attack took place on March 15, 2024.
Parallel to the cyber attack in Siberia, in Moscow its Investigative Committee of Russia announced that criminal charges had been brought once morest a woman who threw green paint on a ballot box in an attempt to disrupt the electoral process in the country’s presidential elections.
Security camera footage released by state news agency RIA shows a young woman casting her vote before very calmly pouring a green liquid into the ballot box.
According to the images that were broadcast, immediately following she is arrested by a policeman.
The woman, who was not named, was later charged with “obstructing the exercise of the right to vote or the work of election commissions,” the press service of Russia’s Investigative Committee announced.
According to newsit, crimes of this nature carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Two similar incidents occurred at polling stations in the Voronezh region, according to RIA.
Russians began heading to the polls today to vote in the country’s presidential election, which runs until Sunday and is expected to secure a new term for Vladimir Putin.
