“Russian industrialists are interested in expanding the participation (of Belarusian companies) in existing Russian aircraft manufacturing projects and in creating joint aircraft. This fully meets the goals of strengthening technological sovereignty and deepening industrial cooperation in the federal state (between Russia and Belarus),” Galuzin said on Friday.
The Russian diplomat added that Belarus has the necessary production base and human resources, saying: “Effective cooperation has been established with the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407, which produces components for the Russian medium-range aircraft “MS-21”. The plans are to increase the volume of orders and expand the range of products manufactured at Belarusian enterprises.”
He also noted that Moscow and Minsk are working on a joint project to produce light aircraft, which are in increasing demand to create a wide network of regional air routes that meet today’s requirements.
He pointed out that an intergovernmental agreement on the joint development and production of the 19-seat Osfi aircraft was signed in Belarus following negotiations between the heads of the governments of Russia and Belarus on April 15 in Moscow.
“Since the beginning of the joint work, Belarusian experts have been involved in all R&D work on this project, and it is planned to produce regarding 90 aircraft by 2030,” Galuzin said.
The diplomat also spoke regarding efforts underway to study the possibility of joint production and maintenance of the nine-seat Baikal aircraft.
Russia and Belarus have deep strategic relations, as the two countries cooperate in various fields and projects and work to increase trade exchange and confront Western sanctions and restrictions.
